Saving

I'm saving for a rainy day.
The drops won't fall yet.

Storm clouds are gathering,
The air thickens,
And I wait.

Crash! Bang!
My ears ring, my eyes are blinded,
The storm breaks.

All is dark.
The wind whips the rain across my face.
I walk. I stand. I kneel.

I'm very cold now.
The pain is growing,
And I lay down to die.

Rain is supposed to hide tears.
I feel I'm all tears,
But the rain won't hide me.

The stars are falling.
No, not stars;
Moonlight through the rain.
It's beautiful.

It's not death, it's life.
Rain is life.
